Encounter Church in Bellflower, CA is an Acts 29 Network church that is a growing, vibrant, gospel-centered, missional faith family.  We exist to transform our community by realizing God, developing authentic disciples and unleashing compassion.

We are seeking a church planting/pastoral resident to encourage, and train up for the mission and ministry of Encounter Church.  This role would include real-world ministry experience and training amongst the people of Encounter Church and the surrounding community beginning as Interim Student Pastor of Encounter Church. Interim Student Pastor will implement a comprehensive program of Christian life development for the Jr. High, High School, and young adults (ages 18-26) in our community. It is essential that this person be able to connect with our Youth and Young Adults on a social and spiritual level, with the intent of coaching them towards Christ-like maturity.


Description

The new church planting residency is intended to last 2-3 years. At the conclusion of the residency, the ideal candidate would take on either the role of Church Planting Partner, Associate Pastor, or Student Pastor of Encounter Church depending on the gifting of the candidate and the needs of the church at that time.  


The resident will work closely with the lead pastor and other ministry leaders. Formal ministry training will be offered through Acts 29 Equip program, Pastor Guide coaching, and the Acts 29 US West Network. There will be guided training in all areas of church ministry and mission. 

The Internship will be about 20 hours per week. There will be a living stipend of $2,000/mo during the residency. This position would require a bi-vocational approach, ideally working within the Bellflower community. 


Who would make an ideal candidate for this position?

Someone who has formal theological training through a Bible college or Seminary, and is looking for hands on ministry experience, including preaching, teaching, pastoral counseling, and leadership development. 

Someone who is passionate about the gospel spreading through church planting around the globe. 

Someone who is humble, teachable, and passionate about personal, professional, and spiritual development.

Someone who is desire is to expand and extend Encounter’s reach to unreached locally and globally. 

Someone who is willing to take on many of the behind-the-scenes administrative tasks involved in the operation of the church.
